NFL: Rams tender offers to free agents
The St. Louis Rams have assigned the right of first refusal restricted tender to tight end Daniel Fells, who caught a career-high 41 passes last season for 391 yards and two touchdowns.
Rams general manager Billy Devaney said last week at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis that he hopes to sign Fells to a long-term deal once a new collective bargaining agreement is in place. The league’s current CBA with the players union expires tonight at midnight.
The Rams also tendered an original round offer to linebacker David Vobora, a source confirmed to The Telegraph on Wednesday. If signed by another team, the Rams would receive a seventh-round pick as compensation for Vobora, who was the final pick of the 2008 NFL draft.
The Rams have also offered restricted tenders to defensive tackle Gary Gibson for right of first refusal and linebacker Chris Chamberlain and guard John Greco for original round offers. Offensive tackle Renardo Foster was tendered at a right of first refusal level.
