Josh McDaniels is Rams' QB coach, too
St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will also be the team's quarterbacks coach.
Team spokesman Ted Crews confirmed McDaniels' dual role status Thursday.
Coach Steve Spagnuolo told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that it will be good for second-year quarterback Sam Bradford to have just one offensive voice in his ear as he learns McDaniels' system.
"We're going to head that way, at least this year. And I think it's a good thing,"
Spagnuolo told the newspaper. Josh has done it that way before. I think it's terrific that Sam will get the direct how-to-do-it, everything Josh is thinking.
"Now, you can put a quarterback coach in there and it works fine, but for the first year of absorbing it ... I feel real comfortable because Josh has done it this way. Josh is really efficient with his time and his work. And when they finally get together, I just think it'll be good."
McDaniels was fired as the Denver Broncos' coach with four games to go last season and was hired by the Rams in January. The team announced the retirement of 70-year-old quarterbacks coach Dick Curl at a news conference to announce the McDaniels deal.
McDaniels' brother, Ben, had been quarterbacks coach in Denver last season.
