Sooners run successful no-huddle defense
The Sooners are 3-0 and couldn't have been more impressive in Seattle. The new pedal-to-the-metal, fast-break, no-huddle has had defenses on their heels and has scored 164 points in three games.
The no-huddle has energized the team and Sooner fans, but how did the idea to change the team's play come about?
"I just brought it up to Kevin after the season last year that we need to really look at going to it. My reasons were, one, I don't want anyone getting more snaps than we do. I felt that more and more teams that are doing it. It's going to help us defensively," Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops said.
"If we're going against our offense every single day it's going to make our defense that much better. And I also think that the emergence and the poise of Sam Bradford."
The no-huddle's success has been triggered by Sam Bradford. The sophomore's accuracy has led some analysts to tag Bradford as the current leader in the race for the Heisman.
With 12 touchdowns to only two picks, while completing a ridiculous 79 percent of his passes.
"As a freshman and sophomore it's pretty phenomenal, his poise and just how he executes," Stoops said. "You look at the throws and those balls couldn't be much better."
Stoops said his team is healthy heading into the off week with the exception of Demarcus Granger's sprained foot. Stoops said he hopes to have his big defensive tackle back by the TCU game on September 27.
