The Bradford-McDaniels timing route
Quarterback Sam Bradford was looking forward to spending a couple days with the St. Louis Rams' new offensive coordinator this week.
The two wound up calling an audible.
Bradford, recently named offensive rookie of the year, remains in regular contact with new coordinator Josh McDaniels. But the two aren't expected to meet at the Rams' facility before next week, when the Rams' coaches return to the building. Coach Steve Spagnuolo gave his assistants down time this week.
That explains why Bradford recently told reporters in Norman, Okla., that he and McDaniels had yet to sit down together.
Bradford has made it clear he's eager to learn as much as possible about the offense. It's an upset if Bradford and McDaniels fail to meet next week. The Rams will be leaving for the scouting combine in another 10 days or so, and a lockout could begin March 4.
